At midday on Tuesday 3rd December, we will be launching our annual match-funding campaign in partnership with The Big Give. The Big Give runs the UK's biggest match-funding campaign, their annual Christmas Challenge, which has raised millions of pounds for thousands of charity projects since it first launched in 2008. For seven days, it offers supporters of participating charities the opportunity to have their donation doubled. We are delighted to have been chosen for match funding this year by our generous pledgers and champion funders, The Childhood Trust.

So why choose us to receive your donation? We are a small, local literacy charity working solely in Wandsworth. We are embedded in our local community, aiming to provide continuity of support for children from 0 to 11 years and to serve the whole family. We love to empower parents to support their children's learning at home. We look to target the greatest need and are committed to quality delivery and measuring impact.

With 70 volunteers reading in nine partner schools across Wandsworth and a team of seven part-time staff, we supported 178 children aged 5-8 with their reading in schools last year, and supported hundreds more children and their families from 0-11 years old with parental talks, workshops, events and messaging. We deliver 96 early years classes each year for children aged 0-4 in schools, nurseries, children’s centres, community centres, libraries and with partner charities.

We know from recent government data that, nationwide, 45% of children entitled to Free School Meals are leaving primary school without reaching the expected level of reading. A widening attainment gap means that even more children could fall behind their more affluent peers in their education and literacy skills, which can go on to have a lifetime impact.

So the need for our work continues and we would love to be able to reach more children and their families in Wandsworth - we need your help to do that.

Every £1 donated as part of the Big Give Christmas Challenge, up to our biggest ever target of £7,000, will be matched - for one week only, starting at midday on Tuesday 3rd December 2024. You could help us raise £14,000!

You can make your donation here only from midday on Tuesday 3rd December until midday Tuesday 10th December:
